The ‘Release’ Music Video

It’s been awhile since I was behind a camera, much less in front of a camera, or sitting behind an Avid Media Composer suite, but not to sound a bit cocky, I think I still have chops.  I’m wrapping up post-production on SDO’s first real music video–as in there’s a coherent theme, and it’s not just lyrics flying around on screen.

I’m looking forward to releasing it on 11/29/11.  I hope that you’ll stop by and check it out.  Be sure to tell a million of your friends, I think it’s ready for the big time.  Rebecca Black has nothing on me (except about 10 million views and a self sustaining music career…::weeping::).

Release

Here is a track off of the upcoming album ‘All Good Things’, its title is Release.

The song is about faking it through life and the impetus for how others will often deal with you.  The last line in the song is, ‘Grant me peace, please release.’

Well, I haven’t really added anything to this site since June, just to let you know, I haven’t been lazy.  Instead of working on this site, I decided to go all out and create a new album.  Originally I was going to do an EP dedicated to my Dad, then under the hope that it would ‘clean the pipes’ creatively and allow me to move on with my other project En Bokeh (working title), with band-mate Hollie Pritchard, I ended up pumping out enough material to do a complete 11-12 track album.

A few of the songs are not new, but have been in various stages that my Dad heard that I never finished.  I took a theme I discovered and added the new ones with my new paradigm on that theme.  Losing a loved one that had so much influence on your life is life altering, and as I am discovering, the cliche about time healing all wounds is absolute bull.  While this is testament to the impact and love I had for my Dad, it’s proving to be difficult.  Regardless, this process has been allowing me to work through a host of issues, although I am dealing with serious insecurity that despite my best effort, it is still not worthy of the inspiring force behind the work.

At this date I have 11 songs out of the 25ish I have written that are ready for final mixing and mastering, I want one more, so that is the goal.  I hope to have everything wrapped up on this project by January as I want to do a full blitz with this album.  I am equipping the creation castle with an Avid Media Composer suite so I can get back to full fledged media production–my Dad sacrificed to get me a second degree that happens to be in film, I might as well use it.

I will start updating this blog more often now that I am nearing the end.  I hope that you get something out of my journey as well.

Lastly, if you haven’t figured it out, the album title is All Good Things.

Rededication

Here is my promise to myself.  After being hammered by life which indirectly led to losing the last website with all its content and directly contributing to me not working on music, I need to get going again.
